Do LEAP-women power-tweet?

Mon 18 October 2010

, Annelou van Kleef, LEAP

In 2010, some women on the Forbes Most Powerful Women list, only need a few minutes and 140 characters or less to reach their audience of millions: they have collected millions of  'followers' on Twitter. Musician Lady Gaga tops the list: she has 6,5 million followers. Talkshowhosts do well also: Ellen Degeneres is runner up with 5,2 million, Oprah Winfrey is followed by over 4,3 million fans.

The top 10 is not all American: Forbes ranks Queen Rania of Jordan in 8th position, mentioning how she tweets about motherhood as well as meetings with the pope.

At the September LEAP-event, ELP-representatives inspired us all to explore and discover new ways to communicate.  Social networking is 'hot' and we are certain Twitter will influence the way we work and interact now and in the future. We are interested to find out how many LEAP women are 'on Twitter ' and why (or why not). Please let us know, we will soon share and discuss statistics right here at Leapwomen.com.
