Autumn Holiday on Mallorca!

Tue 01 November 2011

, Nicole Bader, Charming Travel Choices

My friends, my network, my tweeps on twitter and my facebook friends regularly ask me where I am at that particular moment, in the country or abroad? I often hear: ‘wow Nicole you have such a lovely job constantly being on the road visiting the charming cities of Europe’.  And despite the fact that it is also hard work to visit 120-130 accomodations in approximately 4 days per city, I couldn’t agree more. I have a great job and I just love my work!!

Since the cities of Europe and my work are so interrelated, I mostly prefer to spend my holidays outside cities and not during school holidays. I love to play golf, go to the beach, discover little islands and pittoresque villages abroad, attend amazing open-air concerts in sunny countries, enjoy foreign yoga breaks in the mountains or explore the culture of far away countries. And naturally also then I try to find out and book in advance charming boutique hotels, great restaurants and trendy lounge spots for my own holiday.

I actually just came back from a fantastic holiday. And in contrast to what I wrote in the previous paragraph I didn’t book anything in advance, but joined an ‘all-in club concept’ during the autumn school holiday in stead. To be more specific Club Robinson!! The story is as follows: my little nephew age eleven, obtained his golf permit this year and I promised him a golfbreak abroad together. I searched the internet for child friendly accomodations with golfcourses in the area and ended up with Club Robinson Cala Serena on the island of Mallorca. So I booked and off we went.

Mallorca is part of the Balearic archipelago together with Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Mallorca brings together precious virgin coves, wide sandy beaches and lush green mountain ranges. Our club was situated at the southeast side of the island in a small peninsula surrounded by sea and sandy coves on a 120.000 m2 surface. As you can imagine I was very curious to see the club and to experience the club life as this was totally new to me.  And wow was I in for a surprise!! The club is relatively small, but very charming, with hacienda style houses, two outdoor pools, a private beach, wellness, theater, bars, spacious lounge areas and sunbed terraces, several restaurants, a night club and endless sports facilities. Everything that sport lovers could dream of is offered.

So my little nephew and I have been playing 18 holes on the beautiful nearby golf course Vall d’Or every other day, but we have also been playing tennis and have been snorkeling in the most amazing little bays around the club. My little nephew participated in club football matches every day and even took diving lessons. We met super nice people, the weather was lovely with 28 degrees, the food fantastic and every evening we enjoyed the entertainment program offered.

The nights are the height of the day with theatre, musicals, comedies and concerts. Altogether we had a fabulous time in the club and precious quality time together!!
