Great Lifestyle Hotel for the whole family on the Veluwe

Sat 14 January 2012

, Nicole Bader, Charming Travel Choices

I’m writing my first blog of 2012 and I would like to start with wishing all the Leap Women a healthy, happy and very successful 2012!! The Christmas holidays have again passed by so quickly and we are half way January already.

Each year I look forward to the Christmas period with decorated Christmas trees, big fireplaces, lots of candles, decorated Christmas tables and fantastic dinners with friends and family. However this year I found it somehow difficult to get into the Christmas mood. Probably due to the extremely nice weather and lack of snow…..

Of course the biggest celebration during the Christmas holidays is New Year's Eve. It starts around Sydney and travels time zone by time zone around the globe like some sort of well-coordinated pre-planned firework explosion. For the past years I have celebrated New Year’s Eve abroad, mostly in Paris. This beautiful ‘City of Light’ truly sparkles at the end of the year. Restaurants in the city organize amazing private dinner parties and just before twelve people go out on the streets to celebrate the New Year and watch the famous Eiffel tower glitter as fireworks explode on the horizon.

This year however, I celebrated New Year’s Eve in the Netherlands with my family. Because we were a group of adults and children I have been looking for a suitable ‘Sylvester arrangement’ in the various hotels throughout the country. I started checking charming hotels like the Holtweijde and the Bloemenbeek in Lattrop, the Wilmersberg in the Lutte and the Rode Koper in Ermelo. However, all these accommodations had rather formal programs with 6 course dinners, a swing band and a theme ball party. So i continued searching on the internet and found estate Avegoor in Ellecom. This hotel of Modern Art situated on the edge of the Veluwe forest seemed the perfect accommodation for us.

Hotel Avegoor once belonged to the Dutch Royal family from 1648 to 1800. And even today is the place where royal stature and natural hospitality meet. The possibilities in and around the hotel are endless. You can taste culinary arts at one of the three unique and trendy restaurants Noon, Max and Giga, take a glass of wine by the fireplace or a fresh salad on the terrace. Stay in one of the luxury suites decorated by top designers and admire the art collection. You can take a refreshing dip in the heated indoor pool, relax in the sauna or enjoy beautiful bike and walking trails nearby.

We had some amazing days at Hotel Avegoor and New Year’s Eve was fantastic!
Casino night, workshop Latin dance with a Latin dance show, live cooking in the kitchen, a great dinner, fantastic fireworks and a club scene with DJ till early next morning. We couldn’t have chosen a better accommodation to celebrate 2012!!
