Saint Tropez versus Ibiza!!

Each summer both Ibiza and Saint Tropez are popular hotspots at the Mediterranean sea. Both places are very different… Ibiza is a gorgeous and wild island with a turquoise sea, full of young people, hippies, bohemians, musicians, and of course lots of clubs, concerts and parties on the beach. Saint Tropez on the other hand is classy and chic, famous for its yachts, celebrities, amazing restaurants, beach clubs and nightlife.
Summer is my favorite time of the year! The weather in the South of Europe is round thirty degrees, I’m in full travel hopping mode, visiting cities and searching for the most charming hotspots. Always trying to combine the city scene with beach life if possible. However in between all that travelling, at least once a year I want to spend some holiday time on a spot that is familiar to me. And for me that’s Saint Tropez!! Saint Tropez became world famous thanks to actress Brigitte Bardot and her role in the film “Et Dieu cream la femme” (And God created woman). The village attracts yearly five million visitors.

I visit Saint Tropez every summer. Already years ago, I completely fell in love with this little medieval village located on the French Riviera and I still am today. Set on the lovely blue water of the Bay of Saint-Tropez, the town is most popular for its picturesque harbor with yachts along the quay facing the many terrace cafés, divided by a parade of strolling tourists and slow cruising expensive cars. Behind the cafés, the small streets and old buildings are filled with amazing shops selling brands from well know designers. But also the local market at Place des Lices is worth a visit. Stay at the trendy Byblos Hotel, drink champagne at the world famous Nikki Beach and dine at one of the many fabulous restaurants that line the port.

The popular beaches of Saint-Tropez are located along the coast in the Baie de Pampelonne. This bay is located south of the city and east of Ramatuelle. The beaches offer a wide range of great restaurants and cafes at the waterside, with lounge areas, shops and fashion shows. There is also a wide variety of water sports available: jet skis and water skiing.

Now there is a saying that you’re either in love with Saint Tropez or with Ibiza. Like you cannot be a fan of both…. I have never been to Ibiza and plan to go this year to discover the island and find out what attracts people to it. Who knows, I might end up spending my future summer holidays in Ibiza over Saint Tropez!!
