Karin Jironet: academic, spiritualist, leader

Thu 27 May 2010

, Alberta Opoku, LEAP

The LEAP self-leadership event on 15 June – Get energised by the leader in you! - is approaching. Time for some sneak previews of the speakers. First off: Karin Jironet, who mixes academia, spirituality and business in ways many can only dream of

Dr Karin Jironet works for De Baak Management Centre VNO-NCW, a leading knowledge centre and platform for leadership development in the Netherlands. Karin works with top executives who want to develop their leadership competencies through self-awareness and personal development. Her take on ‘personal development’ is rooted in years of academic studies and training in the fields of theology, psychology and communication, and also in years of Sufi training. Karin combines academia with spirituality and business in ways many can only dream of.

Female leadership

Karin has written various articles and books about management, leadership and spirituality; especially about Western Sufism. In ‘The role of the conscience,’ published in Dutch as ‘De rol van het geweten,’ which Karin co-authored, Dutch leaders such as Marike van Lier Lels of some of Holland’s leading corporates give their take on how they stay true to their inner selves and how their conscience influences their decisions. And in her most recent book, The essence of female leadership, she examines what female leadership really is all about and how we can put it into practice.
